Has anyone experienced this? It is getting harder and harder for me to sleep at night. Even though I prop myself up in bed with several pillows (I am almost in sitting position), my breathing muscles do not seem to work right. It almost feels as if my lungs are going to sleep. I get a...

I had a Pulmonary Function Test in 2005 and just had another one a few weeks ago (Oct.2009). I am wondering if anyone can help me understand the results.
Conclusions of 2005 Test: "The FVC,FEV1/FVC ratio and FEF25-75% are within normal limits, but there is curvature to the flow volume loop...
If you are diagnosed with ALS, how long would you notice a change in your breathing? Would you notice that you are short of breath early on, or does it take time for this problem to develop?

Hi.. I had pulmonary function testing done. All my lung volumes were good. My Mip and MEP numbers showed muscle weakness in the diaphram. Now, I have to get more testing done. Does anyone else with PLS have muscle weakness in diaphram? or is this a sign of ALS.... ? Thanks , ice cream lady

The cardiologist referred me for a sleep study, he feels that my breathing is what is affecting my heart. The doctor who read the sleep study was the same one who read my pulmonary function test. He said that i am waking during REM sleep and that when i am laying on my back this occurs most...
I got to read my pulmonary function test first hand..... At the end it says because of low fvc and high mpp or something, that respiratory muscle weakness is highly suspect. Apparantley my ability to inhale was decreased but mild, but it also showed that my ability to exhale is impaired, not...
Well well well, went to the doc today and guess what? She tells me that my pulmonary function test was not that bad but i do need to start pulmonary rehab and that it is musculature in nature. She then asked if i wanted to have my stuff sent to Bedlack as she feels it is neurological, but she...
