Hello All,
I went to my first ALS clinic appointment at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.
1st off let me state that the level of care I received there, for the most part, was as good as or better than the ALS clinic at the Mayo Clinic. They both have their good and bad points, but I was...

My husband was diagnosed 1/2007 but had symptoms like foot drop, twitching, weakness, fatigue and slurred speech for about2 years prior to that. He kept it a secret from me--he knew it was serious and didn’t want me to worry. I didn't notice anything except the fatigue until about 6 months...
I got in early for my sleep study and the results were apnea and 70% o2 sat rate. The respiratory therapist asked me if I wanted to come back for titration of CPAP or positional training. I forgot to ask and am curious if these two events are going to happen over time or one cancels the other. I...
I am a 28 year old male who has been to very good doctors over the last nine months, and I am not a hypochondriac nor one to doctor shop. Please let me tell everyone my background. About two years ago I experienced extreme stiffness in my right pectoral muscle. I had it reoccur a few times over...

I read that one should consider using a ventilator when the FVC / FEC drop to 50% or lower. But what does it look like. How does the patient breathe when the FVC / FEC are this low. I'm asking because my dad has stopped going to the neurologist and doing all these tests. He says there's nothing...
My Pals and father of our 2 eldest sons FVC dipped from the 70% range down to the 40's in the past 3 months ... I'm terrified! I know everyone progresses differently, but I just want to be prepared. I've been reading & searching this site for clues on what to expect in the coming months. Given...
I saw my pulmonologist today, for the second time, now six months later. My diaphragm hasn't worked in over a year so I have to rely on what's left of the other chest muscles.
The great news is that I'm still holding steady with a FVC of 73. Who knows what the future holds but that means I...
