    Nearly a year since the 'dirty EMG'

    A year ago (nearly - 12th April 2008), I was faced with this. A year later, and nothing has changed. Left hand still visibly wasted, but no further wastage (in terms of severity nor range) or movement losses. The moral of the story? - A dirty EMG doesn't mean it's 'all over' Anyone else had...

    Back from Neuro and unfortunately I don't feel relieved

    He confirmed that everything points toward the diagnosis that was already given with just a few abnormalities. ...but... He did a spinal tap today (unfortunately it looked clear as crystal and he said infection would normally look cloudy..is this an always?), took more blood to do more testing...

    Is the EMG just a diagnostic tool to differentiate between nerve disease or muscle disease? The way I understand the function of the EMG in diagnosing ALS, is that it only shows lower motor neuron involvement, is this a true statement? I read alot of posts about muscle twitching and a dirty EMG...

    Went to Duke and we actually feel a little better now. When the doctor did the exam he found a few things that we hadn't even noticed. The right side of my husband's chest was sunk in - we knew there were other areas that had lost muscle but didn't see that on his chest so it shocked us...
