Hello:
My wife has been recently diagnosed with Bulbar ALS with FTD dementia. She landed in a hospital out of state, and we would like to know the best way to proceed regarding facilities in her home state of FL best capable of dealing with this disease.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Scott
Hello -
My wife, whom we suspected had bulbar ALS for months but she refused any intervention, was "leaving me" and packed her bags. Before she left she call 911 and she had herself removed from our home. She put an abuse charge against me with Adult Protective Services, while at the hospital...
I am not sure where this goes so I am putting it here.
There was an article here in the Billings paper about FTD and alzheimer's. It clearly states that the FTD is fatal.

Hello:
I was reluctant to post here because we don't have an official diagnosis yet. My wife's father died of Bulbar ALS at age 66. My wife is 60 and she has had poor speech for over 2 years. She has lost significant weight and is probably down to 100 lbs now. She is 5'2". Her speech is very...

My sister just left after a long visit, and I find myself just astonished at the changes in her over the last six months. She is much weaker and must use assistive aids to walk in the house or have someone support her if she walks outside, and after a mile or so of walking, foot drop kicks in...
A few days ago, Tom told me he woke up and didn't know where he was. I didn't pay much attention because he has done this in the past...long before ALS. But then Friday night he woke me up and asked me if I heard music. I did not and my hearing is much better than his. Yesterday morning he tried...
I posted already in the general discussion forum but I should have started here. I am a new full time caregiver of my 82 year old father who was diagnosed last year. It probably isn't technically ALS but a motor neuron disease very similar. I have just this month become his full time...
My dad has als and I am now his caregiver as he no longer qualifies for the assisted living facility he was in. He has recently begun showing signs of dementia and spends all night trying to get out of bed. He is currently in the hospital due to a fall because of a fall from his bed and has to...
