    Paying for home health assistance

I'm just curious as to how others have handled home healthcare in the last stages of ALS. My sister receives Hospice care, but they only come out 3 times a week to bathe her, and her needs continue to increase, so Hospice told my brother-in-law that he must hire home healthcare providers for at...

    Lunisin

Anyone still doing lunisin? I am at a year and seems that was how long the trail was to be so wondering what anyone else thinks about how it effected them. I saw no reversal but feel that it might have contribute to slowing things down some. I 'd like to keep taking it but it cost a lot. Might...

    Vertical Wheelchair lift

I have a vertical wheelchair lift that I would like to donate/sell. It was installed in my home to carry my husband in his power wheelchair from the first floor to the second floor. It is just under 2 years old and was only used for about 14 months and is still like new. It has a battery...

    Traveling with ALS

My wife was recently diagnosed with ALS and we still want to travel while we can. For many years we have done volunteer work with several groups that live in our RVs wherever the job is. We have done probably 80 jobs and we would still like to be with those friends. Our current trailer is...

    Wheelchair parts are too expensive

Once again I need new wheelchair tires. The snow tires (on the drive wheels) I just wore out are only available from Permobil and can only be obtained through a Permobil dealer (NuMotion for me). They cost $540 for just the pneumatic tires. Why do wheelchair tires cost more than car tires? Steve

    Wheelchair

So, today I finally found out that the pre-authorization has been approved by UHC. I have been working on getting the pwc since January 2nd... They did not approve the standing feature of the F5, but they approved the Permobil F3. There are a few things that they did not approve that I want...

    Lift Track system

My contractor is going to start demolition of my baster bath on Monday. It is a huge project and it will be a complete tear down. Materials have been ordered and we have a good floor plan on paper. The only thing left to do is commit to a track system from my master bedroom to the master...

    I didn't know what I didn't know

I've been catching up today and in the roll call was introduced to Slippery Sally All I can say is "God d****t". How is it I have never heard of this? Thank you Tillie BTW. Even 4 1/2 years into this, there is still the seemingly never ending, "I didn't know that." It got me thinking of all...

    Deduction for handicap modifications

We spent about $28,000 remodeling our two bathrooms to access my power chair. Do I need to get SN appraisal of the two baths, compare to the original cost and deduct the difference? Vince
