Hello to all,
I first want to start my message by saying I am extremely understanding of the patience you all have with this forum. I can only imagine how many of these "types" of requests you've been getting due to all the heavy media coverage on ALS/the ice bucket challenge.
I just want to...

HI,
I have been having fasciculations for over 7 (now I a 29) years. Last follow-up with a neuromuscular specialist was 2 months ago, specifically aimed at bulbar region - all fine.
But after I noticed that a relative of mine (who too has fasciculations but is very, very old) choked on liquids...
I think we've got pneumonia..or a lung infection..or something. Last couple days Haydens swallowing/choking/mucus has all of a sudden gone crazy. Have hardly slept since Tuesday, coughing, choking, gasping for air. Hasn't eaten more then a piece of toast.. Had Dr in yesterday, he prescribed the...
Texas Tracy in a previous entry mentioned that she has lost her appetite. I'm wondering if more of you have this problem and have any suggestions. I was diagnosed last October. I had normal hunger until around March when over a month it faded to zero. I do feel "empty" and try to eat but quickly...
This is my first post and I hope this is appropriate to this forum.
I'm wondering if anyone can give me a sense of what the recovery is like after a feeding tube is placed.
My MIL is having surgery on Monday next week. She's still very active and trying to maintain as much independence as...
Last night I started having a great deal of problems swallowing-food, pills, even without anything in my mouth I feel as if there is a lump in my throat every time I swallow-feels as if I'm choking.
Can anyone suggest anything to help this-its really frightening.
Thank you.
I was on here a 2 years ago with concerns of ALS and once my EMG came back clean, i was told it was all good.
Here i am still experiencing problems which i am very worried about, especially since i have read TWO posts today where both people had clean EMGs (one christmas time and one even more...
Just diagnosed today with ALS
I am 60, absolutely devastated and dont know what to do. I imagine sitting unable to speak are eat or even breathe slowly choking to death.
Have had a rather bad cold - started as head cold but went into chest. Battle to cough - is this because the muscles in lungs affected? Also battle to bring up mucus. Also find myself choking when eating. Would like to hear more about this problem, if it is a problem or just because of the cold.
