    About Botox injections

When everything else fails doctors recommend Botox injections to reduce saliva. My understanding is that Botox does not reduce other secretions coming from the sinuses, or from the lungs. I wonder what your experiences are with it as a PALS or CALS.

    Physiatrist appointment

It was a bit of a dis-appointment. As in, he had no magic anti-spasticity, anti-fatigue bullet. But it was also reassuring in a strange way. The physiatrist himself was wonderful, but he did not have the answers I was looking for. My goal was to find a way to reduce night time spasticity and...

    Curly toes & fingers

Hi! I've seen this addressed to a degree on other posts, but I still have a couple questions. Are the curly digits a result of muscle atrophy? My calves are pretty bad. I don't see atrophy on my hands, but not sure I know what to look for. I've tried Botox injections for my toes, but I find...

    Neck shaking...

Hi people. The last few weeks my head started shaking in a violent way, even when I lay down. When I sit or stand the problem continues but not as violent as when I am in bed. I bought a cervical collar because of neck weakness but with this head shaking I can't use it because the contractions...

    First clinic-so many drugs prescribed!

Hello- I had my first ALS clinic appointment yesterday. It was very overwhelming and made me cry, I won't lie. I have to admit though, it wasn't terribly informative about my personal progress, nor did they seem to be able to give me any idea of what to expect over the next little while. Only...

    Botox injections in calves tomorrow

The doc determined that the cause of my curly toes is tight calf muscles. The injections will hopefully relax my toes and improve my ability walk. I'm having anxiety about the procedure, tho. Has anyone had this done? Does it hurt? I seemed to have misplaced my big-girl panties. :-|

    Muscle atrophy

Hi all, I was recently surprised to find that my right leg has atrophied significantly. A pretty big chunk of my gastroc (calf) muscle is suddenly just ... missing. And my whole leg and foot are now much visibly thinner than my other leg. My working diagnosis is HSP, hereditary spastic...

    Terminal Wean from Ventilator

It has been a while since I have posted so I wanted to relay a chain of events that may help others in a similar situation or heading toward a similar situation. My father was diagnosed with ALS in September 2013 at 71 years old. His symptom onset was a year prior with overall weakness...

    Saliva is SO bad! Radiation?

My poor husband is having a terrible time managing his saliva. He gets Botox shots (an equivalent, better product actually) every two months. They increased his dosage by 50% last time but it has worn off and is such a problem. He also has a prescription for Dicyclamine, he takes two pills...

    Botox injections for spastic muscles

Hi all, I have recently started seeing a neuro rehab physical therapist. She has recommended that I make an appointment with one of the rehab doctors who does Botox injections for spasticity. I have an appointment coming up in the next couple of weeks. Has anybody here ever tried Botox...
