    Tomorrow marks a year...

And nothing's been the same since... and never will again. But, in my dreams my dad can walk and talk and smile. I miss you dad... every day. Peace is thine and sweet remembrance is ours.

    Lots of helping hands

Is anyone currently using this site (lotsahelpinghands.com) to help give yourselves a much deserved break? I looked into it when my dad was starting to decline but it all went too fast. All of the day-to-day stuff PLUS taking care of my dad really took it's toll on my mom. The goal of the...

    In Honor of Dad's Birthday

Today would have been Dad's 62nd birthday. He LOVED birthdays. He used to start singing "Happy Birthday To Me" on the August 1st and didn't stop until he went to bed on August 29th. So, to honor my dad today, my mom and I went... wait for it... wait for it... SKY DIVING! It was fantastic...

When I grow up, I want to...

I've struggled with that question for a long time... what do I want to do when I grow up? Saddly, I've been "grown up" for some time and I'm still not sure, at least not until recently. Mom & I were having a discussion about how we feel we could help people who are, unfortunately, just getting...

    Missing my dad today

It's been 2.5 months since he passed. I miss him EVERY day but today for some reason... it's really hitting me hard. Strength will come and peace will follow.

Free to a good home - just pay shipping

As most of you know, my dad passed away from ALS in January. The VA has taken all of the equipment that they would like back. This has left mom with a suction machine and 4 cases of Jevity liquid nutrition. If you are in need of these items, please let me know. Just pay for the shipping and...

The bravest man I've ever known has fought won his final battle.

On 3/27/09 Dad was given the ticket for his final journey. It has been an emotional roller coaster, to say the least. As anyone who knew him can attest, his stubborn streak is what kept him going and kept us on our toes. At the beginning of this trip, I made a new friend whose family was on the...

Is this the beginning of the end?

My mom and dad went to FL for 2 weeks (had a gut feeling that this trip wasn't going to end well). Mom just texted me that dad couldn't catch his breath. The had to pull over on the side of the road and call 911. He's on O2 in the ER right now... no vent (he won't allow it). They're going to...

Dad & Lung Capacity (FEV) Test

Dad had a Dr. appt today and he had a pulmonary test that showed his FEV was 480. I didn't go to the appt. and my mom is HORRIBLE at asking questions - I think she's intimidated by the white coat. My question is... does anyone know what this means or what it translates to in "expected volume"?

All of the Fathers touched by ALS.

To those who remember Fathers lost. To those Fathers who have lost. To those who are gone too soon and were never given the opportunity to become Fathers. To those Fathers who still fight. You are remembered this and every Father's Day! You are all in my thoughts this evening.
