Looks like my only option for this saliva problem is Botox. Pros/cons from someone who knows?

Have already tried amitriptyline and the under tongue drops (eye drops) and the other Glycopyrrol, nothing works. Still saliva pools under my tongue and spills out my mouth. I sit there half the time with a paper towel or Kleenex in my mouth or wiping constantly. They set me up for Botox when I...

Just curious, does anyone's insurance not cover Riluzole?

Just seems strange to me, my insurance always pays for all my meds prescribed, even the expensive Radicava, but doesn't ever cover Riluzole...should I try to look into why? I've been taking it since last July. Didn't know if anyone else has seen this with theirs. (UnitedHealthcare)

Radicava patients - any advice on going through another Prior Authorization to extend it again?

I had the Prior Authorization done last year, which took forever, finally was approved last year for 6 months from my insurance company. I have lost so much facial muscles my face is pretty flat, my eyes sunken in looking with bags under them and Eyebrow line sunken down, and major forehead wrinkles. I've never been one to ever want to think about Botox or chemicals in my skin. But I just look so awful in pictures and people...

What has anyone found best for saliva?

They put me on Amitriptyline and that hasn't helped. I just wondered if there are other meds that can help with that and can be taken during the day that's non drowsy or I know there is the option of Botox injections into glands, but wanted to know if anyone thought that helped. I go back to ALS...

Depression - what do you do for it when it hits? anything instant?

I have Bulbar onset ALS. Obviously we all have depression over this, and I know there are things that you can take long term. I have a prescription for Zoloft I haven't started taking yet, because I have been going through so much I didn't want to throw my mind into whack with antidepressant...

How long does it take to get setup with Radicava infusions?

I was diagnosed the last day of June, in July I decided I wanted to try the Radicava infusions. Everything got started with my neurologist office, finding out if my insurance covers it etc. It does, then they contacted radicava, and then Searchlight in case I need to have any copays covered...
