I want to thank those of you who have responded to questions I have had over the past little while. My mother passed away yesterday morning.

So sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is a tough thing to go through but there is comfort in knowing that their suffering is over.

Mum does have an alphabet board and spells out some things but as you say, it is slow and a little too much effort for her right now. But we never thought of a picture board. What a good idea. I will talk to my sisters about it. Thank you.

Thank you to all who responded. Mum's surgery had to be delayed for a day because she was so dehydrated. She was operated on Saturday morning and the surgery went well. She had her first feeding through the tube yesterday while I was there with her. She was experiencing a lot of acid reflux...
