My daddy died in his sleep, at home

And I wasn't there. I spent two months in Poland with him from August to mid October, and then had to come back to the US to work and to bring my kids back to their dad. My father begged me not to leave. He prayed for a quick death, and he prayed for an easy death. At least those two prayers...

    my dad got his peg!

I haven't even started to solve one problem (what to do so that my family can change my dad's BiPap settings), and now a serious new problem shows up. My dad stopped eating any food by mouth about 3-4 weeks ago. And now his jaw becomes more and more tight. This causes serious problems with...

    my dad got his peg!

This is so super useful, Laurie, thank you so much! I'll be following your suggestions as much as I can from the far. I tried to do research about those olive-tips for the suction machine and I don't know how to find them. Would you know where I could look? And one more question from my dad...

    my dad got his peg!

Thank you so much, Laurie! We were talking about a hospital bed, and I think there is a way: I'll talk to my family and convince them to get it. Gosh... I already know what he'll tell me about suction: he has to put it down his throat because that's where the stuff is that won't let him...

    my dad got his peg!

I also wonder what time of the day would be good to give that pineapple juice (I think that that's the only kind they could get in Poland)

    my dad got his peg!

Is it okay to put the suction tube down the throat, anyway? Are there any instructions somewhere that we could consult? I did some Internet research, and some people say it shouldn't go down the throat?

    my dad got his peg!

He doesn't have a hospital bed, but several pillows, and tells me it's the highest he could go to be able to sleep at all. BiPAP - I don't know :-(. No humidifier in the house - and I don't know if the air is dry. Didn't seem to me to be dry, but just my impression. Should they look into it...

    my dad got his peg!

I am back in the States, and my dad and mom - in Poland. We figured out a way to always have someone there with them, including nights, and I spent my last few days in Poland training everybody so that they know what needs to be done and how. My dad can still walk, and has an almost perfect use...

    my dad got his peg!

The doctor said he was still in a pretty good shape, so that was also something I feel so grateful for... He kept saying no to the feeding tube forever, and then just last Saturday changed his mind. And they managed to schedule him so quickly...
