My Mom passed away Sunday morning. I wanted to post here one more time to say how grateful I am for this site. What I learned from this site was truly invaluable and allowed me to be the best advocate and caregiver I could be for my Mom. Even though my Mom was being seen at an ALS Clinic and we...

The RT changed the settings to be automatic AVAPS AE and she seems more comfortable and the mask seems to not be leaking much. He's going to come back tomorrow to check the data and make adjustments.

The RT is coming tomorrow morning but I'm not sure what good it will do at this point. My Mom's condition has deteriorated rapidly this week and the hospice nurse said she's shutting down. She's not tolerating the tube feeding, her breathing is very weak and she is really withdrawn. This is...

What settings should I be looking at? She just had me adjust both pressure settings up one to 10 and 23. Those are the settings she's been slowly adjusting up (EVAP and IPAP? or similar). We just had a pretty frank discussion and she said she doesn't feel like she's gasping for air so that's good.

I ran across info on breath stacking a while back and forwarded it to my Mom. I'm not sure if she tried it but I think now she isn't strong enough.

So my Mom's headaches are getting quite a bit worse and she agreed to start morphine for the headaches and to ease her breathing. She was reluctant at first but after only 2 days is now at 3+ small doses a day. I think she was suffering from headaches way more than she let on. I know there is no...

I would say she previously had caffeine related headaches. Now she has them pretty much all the time after waking (including naps). I am fairly certain there is CO2 retention, I guess I just assumed it was part of the deal. I may take you up on your offer Laurie, I'll check with my Mom tomorrow...
