    It happened so fast...

My spouse was diagnosed with ALS in September 2010. He passed away February 2012. I cannot say he suffered, but I can say it took a man's man and stripped him of all dignity. Although we laughed and loved right to the end, it was still the saddest thing I have ever gone through in my life. What...

    Closure?

Someone said "at least you now can have CLOSURE..." I don't WANT closure! I want to keep every aspect and chapter of my life with my love OPEN. What is with these people and that stupid term?

    Final hours

Just so you all know, my husband is in his final hours, or maybe days. We are keeping him comfortably sedated and our family is all here to be with him on his final journey home. Please keep us in your prayers. God bless you all in each your own journeys. This is a nasty nasty disease that has...

I use the hand sanitized as much as possible. Stay away from him as much as I can. Use gloves for tube feedings. ? Anybody?

So, it has come time to order the " power chair ".....great, bring it on! But wait, how do we get it into the upper level of our split level entry home? They weigh 300+ pounds! We have the chair lift on both sets of stairs already and have no space for a lift for the chair regardless. Does...

    How do we? I?

We have totally pulled together as a family to help my hubby, their brother and father, to learn to tube feed and take care of all of his needs. NOW he tells me he only feels safe with me. I have trained very thoroughly back up, as I feel I need time away...why then did I cancel my plans of two...

    Rally time!

Our situation has changed dramatically in the past month in that my husband requires a whole lot more care now. He no longer can eat and has had the PEG put in. The mucus in the throat is a bit of a problem as well. The breathing problems are inhing their way in now as well. I have made...
