    Changes on the horizon!

My precious PALS is still doing good but 2 years and 3 months into the diagnosis AND he's slowing down. Although he's still mobile at the moment, his walking days are shortly numbered and he will soon have to resort to a full time "something". He has 2 different power chairs and I guess one is...

    This is simply exhausting.....

Nothing special....just a vent! I realized this past weekend how much I missed "slow dancing" with my PALS while listening to the Bose in the kitchen and cooking Sunday dinner for our daughters and grandsons. It was a moment between us and it stunk! Heading to the ALS clinic early tomorrow...

    My PALS blesses me

I never cease to be amazed by my husband/PALS attitude and grace when it comes to this disease. I have to be honest and say that I'm not sure that I would have the same dignity, grace and strength that he has exhibited since he was diagnosed---were the rolls reversed! That being said, after...

    I miss our "old souls"

Though the forum remains amazing, I admit that I miss many of our old "souls"....those that brought so much reason, guidance and a stern hand when needed...Al, Allen, Richard C, and especially Annie! Though I have left many out....all the newcomers would benefit greatly from checking out the...

    Dear ALS, I hate you!

"Hate" is such a harsh word that I NEVER use....however, it seems perfectly fitting under the circumstances! Nothing specific, I just despise and grieve over the toll that this disease is taking on my husband's body! I guess my vent is over as I'm pretty sure it sums it up for all of us here...

    Such a naive cals

I'm shocked at how naive I've been as the wife of a PALS. Even though my husband is doing good and apparently slow progressing (not bragging), I'm shocked at how much this disease has impacted our day-to-day life. Scoot will be retiring at the end of this year and I continue to work full time...

    This is so darn difficult!

I never imagined how difficult this journey would be. I joined the forum right after my PALs (a/k/a my husband) was diagnosed and have been pretty diligent in trying to learn and keep up with EVERYTHING about this damn beast of a disease. Call me dumb, but I failed to grasp early-on the...

    Advice from cals please!

I'm not sure what the crud to do...Scott decided Sunday that he "really" didn't' need either of his AFOs! He's decided that he doesn't want me to stretch or massage his legs and refuses to wear his hand braces at night....what the crap? He absolutely needs his braces to walk and I'm petrified...

    Wishing on a dandelion!

Out of the mouth of our 4 year old grandson as he made a wish and blew on a dandelion today, "I hope my Yaya feels better soon". Hope that wish went straight to the good Lord's ear! Hugs and luv to all! Ruth

    Slow down you beast!

I'm shocked and devastated at my husband's marked progression the last 4 months! He was doing so good in January that his neuro at the ALS clinic in Huntsville double checked his records to make sure he "actually" had ALS. Fast forward to April/May and his day-to-day walking with his AFO's is...
