    Too young

Our sister in law passed on yesterday. I am so angry. Angry at the ALS. Angry at her suffering. Angry that it was only a year ago she was healthy. Angry....angry...angry.... Angry that even AIDS seems to be treatable these days & many cancers. But this THING, this BEAST .... it is...

    Ceftriaxone Trial

I read with interest about this trial bc my DiL was not accepted since she could not meet the criteria for breathing. She has gone downhill quickly. She is v disappointed as are we all that she will not be participating. I think she is looking at other options, but she is on the fast track...

    Worried today

My DiL also has accelerated very quickly from being totally able last Spring to losing so much of her lung capacity/speaking & is now in WC etc. Sadly, she will not be able to eat much longer either since her swallowing is becoming compromised.... 6 mos ago

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I feel bad for my DIL; I feel that, with any other illness you could name, she would at least have a fighting chance. At the very least. Maybe some very advanced cancer, that is not so, but I cannot think of one illness that is as devastating as ALS...

    Grief and other people

Category 3 people can become Category 1. Probably they can go in the other direction too, but at least they tried for awhile. Sometimes caregivers go through all 3 in the same day too! I know, have BTDT. But they who remain stuck in Cat 3....yes, prob best you forget them...

    6 mos ago

Hi Everyone: I am not caregiving presently, but will probably be involved with the team of carers who are helping out my DIL. 6 mos ago, she could dig in her garden. Hug her kids. Make love with her husband. Talk and smile and laugh and go to work. Drive. Swallow a twinkie...
