  • Hi Gary, how are you doing? Your symptoms sound a lot like mine. I've had fasciculations for 3.5 months, along with a lot of pain and tightness in my calves. They often feel like they want to cramp, but never quite produce a full cramp. I've been to two neurologists, one of whom performed an EMG. He said BFS, the second neurologist said cramp fasciculation syndrome. I also have muscle soreness and fatigue elsewhere in my body, particularly my arms and upper back. I get that burning feeling too. Based on our experiences, and the experiences of others with BFS/CFS, this sounds like peripheral nerve hyperexcitability. Nobody really knows why it happens, but it usually resolves over time. It causes a hell of a lot of anxiety, though which can exacerbate swallowing difficulties. I've had minor swallowing difficulties on and off for years, long before I developed fasciculations. They come on in times of stress, and resolve spontaneously. That might be what's happening to you.
