Welcome, sorry you're here, but then, if you are here, then you have found the right place. I don't know for sure the answer to your question, but I have my doubts that there are any compensations for lost work, even in the case of care giving.
However, I could be wrong, and I hope I am. It probably depends on your employer. If you present your case, they may make exceptions for you, whether it's a 'written policy' of not. It's worth asking about, for sure. I am not aware of any 'laws' that say they have to compensate, but there again, I'm not a lawyer.
You may be able to contact your local als assoc. and ask if they know about this.
