I can't answer your question, and won't on the main board, but obviously, CO2 poisoning can't be good. I would guess that the amount of 'time left' would depend on how much damage is being done, and upon the individual, as we are all different. No one can give a definitive answer to that kind of question.
But I wish you peace, and hope you/they can get more oxygen into his system/lungs.
