  • I welcome to the forum. Just because you have ALS which is a serious illness it doesn't mean you are going to die from it. My dad said his ALS specialist he is seeing in Dallas said in the middle of December a new extremely promising drug for ALS is coming out. Just take it one day at a time. Tell your kids that dad is sick and will have bad days and good days. Each case of ALS is different. The people on here are very caring and will answer any question you have. We're all here for you. Kim
    Daniel,
Just a note to say that as I am a few months ahead of you on this ALS Hwy, I'd be happy to chat with you about what potholes are ahead. As a Harley rider, I HATE potholes :).
Hi Daniel. I responded in your post but wanted to say hello here. My posts are being moderated before they will be posted... I guess b/c I included website links.

Where are you receiving your care? My Dad lives in Raleigh and he is being seen at the Duke ALS clinic. I went with him last time I was home visiting and I was very impressed with the professionalism and compassion of the staff at Duke. I also attended the local support group meeting with him for PALS/CALS and it was a fantastic experience with very welcoming people.

Let me know if you have any questions. Take care.
    Allison
