  • I don't know what to do next, my husband was given a diagnosis of ALS today and we are floored. He started having symptoms of fasciculations and cramps in his hands and arms and slurred or slow speech in early December after having the flu. I thought it was from the flu or the high fever but no, after seeing the Neurologist three weeks ago for an EMG, bloodwork and an MRI, we get called into his office today and given the news it's ALS. So much is going through our minds, where do we start? What do we do next? The Neuro said he would refer us to a Special Care Hospital, and we should get a second opinion. I need guidance, someone to tell us how to handle this now. Emg and MRI state this abnormality seen in such a young patient "strongly suggests ALS"
