I've had IBS w/ constipation my whole life. I think if your system don't work right it causes a lot of things to go wrong. The colon is the way for all the bad things to get out of your body and when you have problems and it doesn't work correctly your body absorbs to much toxins and causes bad things to happen. I may be wrong about it causing my ALS but you never know. Since I was diagnosed my IBS has gotten worse and I'm having bladder issues too.
