  • Yes, a red bird to match your shoes! Actually, a Christmas ornament. 'Tis the season ...
Hi, so nice to hear from you again. Yes, my bro does have Medicare A&B. Thanks for the VA advice, I'll have to research that route further, I didn't realize they had that much to offer. I am doing better today, tomorrow may be different. We looked at some promising senior-type 2 bdrm apts (xtra bdrm for family and caregivers). I also bought some snow boots and a coat for my upcoming Mich. trip to see my bro...don't see much snow in Tucson! I was reading your posts about the vexing SSDI problems you're having, I hope those get settled asap, your family doesn't need that stress on top of everything else you're going thru. Thanks again for the words of encouragement.
Hi Indigosd, Thanks so much for your advice, you have been a little ray of sunshine to me today. I will definitely see that we get a documented ALS dx when I go to my bro's neuro appt. with him early Jan. Setting him up with their ALS Clinic is on the list also. Is SSDI in addition to regular Social Sec. that my 65 year old bro already receives? I just had a meltdown earlier, all these unknowns and worry about his care are so overwhelming.
Are you trying to upload too big of a picture. I think 87kb is max. size.
    Hi Indigosd:

Your questions were more helpful than answers; does that make sense. I checked some other threads/posts and realized that I had some timing issues here. Also, my teachers' retirement STRS operates a bit differently than PERS or SS. So, the waters muddy further. Anyway, thanks very much. I hope to become a more active member of the community. I have another visit with my neurologist next tues the 10th and hope to have more info. I'm near Cleveland, and in Wooster we have access to Cleveland Clinic here in town. I hope you and your family had a restful Thanksgiving.

    Hi Indigosd,
Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving! Just wanted to thank you for all the kind, loving words you share on here. I know I'm new to this forum, and just wanted to let you know you are definitely touching hearts out here in cyberland...
    Peace,

    Hi:
I am doing well emotionally, but worry about my progression. I noted tremors in arms a year ago last summer with increasing loss of pincer grasp and upper body strength. When my leg cramping and R leg/ankle made stairs tough, finally saw g.p. in Late Oct. Last 4 weeks have been with specialist ruling out other pbs. Writing and typing getting tough, and swallowing takes some concentration. Wish I had more answers about progression and speed thereof. I currently teach hs, but that requires lots of typing. At 54, I can retire early, but torn between working and making more time for passion of writing and time with wife.
I'm in good spirits yet worry about her and my grown kids.

My avatar is Charles Mingus. He was a bass player and composer. I saw him perform in 1976. He died of ALS 3 years later.
Hi, No only my oldest son had H1N1. Made my husband get the shot before he came home. Youngest son just had the flu. Thanks for asking.
