Bulbar als - time to complete loss of voice

I started with a nasal speech last year. Then had an emg a few months back that showed denervation in some muscles. Two months later I had another another emg that showed more extensive involvement.

Bulbar als - time to complete loss of voice

Hi everyone, I am recently diagnosed with bulbar als. I started noticing changes in my speech mid last year. May I ask how long did it take for you from noticing something is wrong to complete loss of voice? I know everyone is different but still would be interesting to see.

Hi, thanks for this. If you look at my emg report you can tell the injury is recent and not an old injury because of the amplitude of the motor units and polyphasic potentials. My speech issues started one year ago with my soft palate being afected. The issue with my smile started in the last 6...

Hi, thanks for this. Can you please explain why you believe it is not bulbar? I have progressing symptoms in my bulbar area. My soft palate doesnt lift properly so my speech is nasal and low tone. Then my smile got crooked and thats what the emg picked up. I dont think it is time to celebrate for me as I am struggling with speech / excess saliva/ weakness all over the region

Hello is there a pattern on emg that suggests slow progression? I read chronic neurogenic changes without much active neurogenic changes could point towards that?
