  • Thank you for your response. No matter what I will put proper nutrition at the forefront and train within my limits. Thanks for that perspective.
    Hi Pete,

I have read your threads and noted that you have overcome so much in your life. I wanted to see if you would be willing to give your opinion on if you think your physical training had anything to do with your diagnosis? I hope I don't have ALS but I love running but I am considering giving it up. I'm 39 years old and just today ran a 8 mile run in 6:32 pace. Don't know if I am overdue it. I hope that there is a better place after this for all of us. Thank you for your time.
Good morning Pete. Reformed? Curious, based on a couple of your last posts. Can't send private mail, I'm too new I guess. Grace, and peace to you. Bill
G'day Pete, hope you had a great day at the park with your kids! My daughter Carrah thinks it's a chocolate playground because of the name! She's 13...her world is that damn iPad and chocolate!
    God bless, Janelle x
    Hi Pete,
I'm from pa originally, but went to school in upstate and never left. Thanks for the note.

Good thoughts headed your way for clinic today. Keep the doctors guessing! :)
All the best for clinic. I a, very hesitant to add a post to the roll call, not having ALS itself.
    Take care, Janelle x
Hi Pete, just checking in...hope all is going as good as can be for you and your beloved? I remember you saying you prefer the cold, so I hope the summer isn't too bad for you.
Now I'm going to sound like your mother...I learned the hard way I can't swim anymore, please take care not to swim too far out, would be terrifying for your beloved if she couldn't help.
    God bless, Janelle x
    Hi Pete
Just been looking on the internet and searched "finger rehabilitation" possibly then gloves...can't remember. We looked at the images. Some were enough to give me nightmares but a couple gave some good ideas for a homemade glove.
One that we might copy a bit is called Manus Strengthening...something. It's on Amazon. Gee I sound like an Internet wizard!
    Anyway, worth a look.

like your new picture of the puppy! is it yours? I have a friend with a husky and it is the sweetest most laid back dog. Hers is a year old and a big goofball.
Hey Pete, apologies for not responding until now. I spent a month in France at friend's with the intent to unplug. An athlete section might be cool. I regressed to an indoor spin machine for a day. but nothing beyond stretching is within my capabilities. I simultaneously grieved the loss of joy from running as well as the endorphin release and runner's high. Not having that stress outlet, not to mention the vanity of strength, has been devastating. I feel for you. I've had a serious ticking off of muscle. In part because I have pushed myself any and all days that I have some amount of strength and lower fatigue to fuss with plants and maintain living independently-to a detriment physically. The emotional need I have to "do" outweighs the costs. Do what you can. Swimming? I have thought about coaxing a friend to get me into a pool but she'd have to be very patient and it'd be risky getting into and out of the water. Cheers, Aaron
John, I have actually gained weight since this began. I believe it is because I used to be so active but now do nothing, but still eat like crazy. Also, when I get depressed I eat. I take vitamins D and B and one month ago Riluzole.
Merry Christmas tripete thankyou for responding to my message I definitely will request that type of breathing test again I am very sorry that you got that diagnosis and I am praying for you everyday to stay strong tripete do you take any vitamins at all ??? How is your appetite and weight?
Hi tripete I am very sorry about your diagnosis but my prayers are with you that you can continue staying strong for a long long time your story resembles mine in a way with the shortness of breath mine started on exertion only 6 months ago and is still that way today passed every test imaginable and the neouros are saying nothing is wrong when I know there is I also have widespread twitching cramping burning fatigue all over my body I was very athletic also and I will be 48 they diagnosed me with nerve radicuopathy with cramp and fasiculation syndrome I am not buying it because of my breathing my question to you was your breathing problems on exertion only? And how long did it take from the beginning of your breathing problems to diagnose you and how did they diagnose emg? Thanks tripete I wish you all the strength in the world I just know your a really tough guy take care
