    Communication Devices (AAC) - Help

My sister used a TTY phone, it was great. But we used it thru an operator, that way she could call me or anyone else she wanted to. Her typing was translated thru an operator, when you respond the operator typed it back to her. It worked great, just took a little longer to communicate but it...

    Awareness/Speech

The Sue Rodrigues story with Wendy Crewson was a good one and I have seen a few others. But I agree, there should be more. I recall " Touched by an Angel" did a show about someone with ALS. I think unless you know what ALS is, you don't pay attention.

    Awareness/Speech

I remember a time when I went on an outing with my sister Roberta. She loved going to the mall. She was a shopaholic. I used to go over and spend a day with her so her husband and son would have some time away. She wanted to treat me to lunch at the mall. So off we went, she had the stomach...

    Is this the end?

This is what I did. I thought when Mom couldn't talk anymore how she must have been frustrated. She was a very talkative person. I felt that it must be awful to not be able to express yourself, so while she could still write, I got her a note pad and asked her to write her life story. Which...

    Off-topic rant

I don't respond a lot because sometimes I just don't know what to say. But I read the posts and my heart aches for what you are going thru. I hope and pray for a cure for this awful, horrible disease. I remember my first encounter with ALS. My aunt Vina, I was 5 years old. I recall asking...
