That's pretty good Barry! A skateboarding type helmet was recommended, the kind that goes further down the back of your head and also provides some ear protection.

Well my mom was not interested either but when you get staples twice in one month and the docs tell you the next time you hit your head it might be the end for you that helps with the decision. My mom was always dressed up with high heels and perfect hair and make-up and ALS took all that away...

After my mom fell and had two sets of staples put in her head (the second set the day after the first were removed) she started to wear a helmet as suggested by ER doctors. Not really fashionable but saved her head from anymore damage for the several falls she experienced after deciding to wear...

I am very sad to here of Beth's passing. She was amazing and she had a great sense of humor. I looked forward to reading her blog. She will be missed.

Hi Gina, Sorry to hear about your dad. My mom was diagnosed June 08 and slurred speech started in June 07. My mom communicates by using a light writer, grease boards or computers. All of her nutrition is through the tube. She still walks with a walker but has noticed more weakness in arms...

We went to a chocolatier and asked them to make the creamiest maple nut fudge (w/o the nuts of course) possible so now my mom can tuck that in her cheek, she loves it.

Rosella, Same as above for my mom, has had some pain but not to that extent. I hope they can figure things out for your dad soon. Poor guy just got home. Keep us posted.
