  • Hey there Tammypie! We don't get to that beautiful city ever but I hope she enjoys Colorado! I've been there three times and it's beautiful there. How the heck are you girl! I don't see you around much lately. You been busy?
    I'm hanging in there. Kind of glad I have work to keep my mind off of my Dad for the most part. Mom is having a tough time as expected. She went from taking care of my Dad 24/7 to nothing. My heart just breaks for her. Honestly & I know it's a personal choice but I can't imagine have this disease for 2-5 yrs like my Dad was suppose to have. Dad would've never left the hospital with out needing the bipap 24/7 & he wasn't eating so.......we had to let him go. I have to re-group and focus on my family more now, my oldest is graduating from high school in June and need to get college stuff in order, never ending, & help my Mom and support her. Time will ease the pain just not take it all away.
    Wow A sheik donating money in this country for the purpose of ALS; how benevolent. Was there anything in the Baltimore Sun???? I will try to look online. thanks for the heads up.

    Now if we could just get compassionate access for dexpramipexole.

    Tammy~you pretty much described how I am feeling right now~numb is a good description. His funeral was yesterday and it was beautiful (& sad of course) I am so thankful my family is strong! We will miss him terribly but I do feel there is a sense of relief, ya know?, My Dad was not one to be hooked up to machines forever, he NEVER would want that at all. It was bittersweet saying goodbye. We gave him his military honors though. He served in the Navy during the Korean era. My Mom rec'd the American Flag but she turned and gave it to my oldest brother (who has cerebral palsy). He had a really hard time of it but did well at the funeral. Reality will hit eventually. Thank you so much for messaging me :)

    Will you please send me the article about vets receiving shots in the 60's and now dying of ALs. That is the EXACT time period that my husband served and now he is suffering from ALS. Will soon celebrate his 2 years of diagnosis this month (9 days from now) thanks... G.
    Aloha Tammy, Thank you for the butt kick again..reminding me to keep on going no matter what. I AM NOTGIVNUP!...I do get flustered sometimes and need down time, and when I have nothing nice but whineing only doesnt help anyone so I stay quite. Thanks for the pep talk! Love & {{{BIG HUGS}}}}
    Hi Tammypie! Glad you are making progress! I'm good. About to meet a friend for lunch. We've got rain today which is a good thing! We're so dry here. It's high desert here. I hope you're doing good Doll! You sound good!!
    Love,

    So they are treating him for pneumonia but there are other things going on. His blood counts are all off, white blood cell is at .9
    Yesterday his stats were actually stable (blood pressure, oxygen levels, heart rate) but they did an xray of his abdomen area and said his bowel movement is really nonexistent. He has had diarrhea for 3 weeks & they think there might of been blood in it yesterday. But that could be because he was on cumadin had to go off (switch medicine) to have his Hickman catheter out this past Monday and if one drop of blood got into him that could be why? They are watching his blood very carefully. He is at the local hospital but we are trying to have him switched to his ALS hospital (Lahey) his ALS Dr wants him there. I think it would be better for him cuz they know how to take care of ALS patients. My Dad really can't talk, I have a hard time understanding him so a nurse really can't understand him & last night my sister stayed cuz he kept needing to be suctioned.
    Hi Tammy~I popped onto the forum yesterday & was going to respond then but didn't have a chance. Had I responded yesterday I would've said I'm doing good & Dad is holding his own but last night he went into the hospital with breathing trouble. He has pneumonia in his lower lobes & has a fever. He was admitted into ICU. Now we pray & hope he can pull out of this. One good thing, the blood work didn't show any CO build up. I will keep you posted
    Hi Tammy Pie! It was good to see your postings today. I hope you're doing okay Sweets!
