    Worried about symptoms

I am sorry that you facing the potential of an ALS diagnosis. I am hopeful that an ALS mimic will be discovered and you will have a treatable condition. Regardless of whether or not you eventually receive an ALS diagnosis, I encourage you to ensure you have some important paperwork in place...

PALS ROLL CALL NEW THREAD (PALS ONLY) [Wednesday or whenever]

Like some others, I am a day late. The holiday on Monday threw me off. I just returned from a wonderful wheelchair ride half way up Vail pass. It is 9 miles round trip which gains 1,000 feet in elevation. I was able to see a crow, magpie, various swallows, yellow warbler, wilson's warbler...

    Moose in our Backyard

We have had a young moose wandering around our neighborhood for the last few weeks. We saw it in our backyard last week, but there was no chance to take any meaningful pictures. This evening, when I returned home from a wheelchair ride, the moose was again in our backyard. He settled in and...

2019 Fall Trip to Grand Canyon

Al, there are many theories about how the canyon was formed. Some of those theories have a significant religious foundation. I won't get into those. Among the scientifically-backed theories, the most generally accepted explanation is that the vast Colorado Plateau underwent a period of uplift...

2019 Fall Trip to Grand Canyon

This trip to the Grand Canyon was a bit different from our past trips. We had the motorhome, which contributed a lot of complexity, but sure was comfortable. We also had very cold weather. I think this was the coldest weather I have ever experienced at the Grand Canyon (though, I have...

2019 Fall Trip to Grand Canyon

I am finally getting around to starting a thread about our trip to Grand Canyon National Park last fall. As always, it was a wonderful trip in a magnificent park. It was a bit more exciting because of our new-to-us motorhome and the weather. The Grand Canyon is a very popular place and it is...

    Mobility help

Here are some thoughts about the OP's final question regarding how to get her PALS to appointments. You can load him into your SUV and arrange for a manual wheelchair to be available when you get to your appointment. This might work for a short while, but be aware that sitting in a manual...

PALS ROLL CALL NEW THREAD (PALS ONLY) [Wednesday or whenever]

Karen, I have never heard of skijoring with dogs. Around here, they always use horses. There are annual skijoring events at Leadville and Steamboat Springs. They are entertaining to watch. It appears that all the human participants do not come out unharmed. Fortunately, I am not aware of...

PALS ROLL CALL NEW THREAD (PALS ONLY) [Wednesday or whenever]

I was able to get out for a wheelchair ride yesterday and today. The snow on the bike path that goes up and over Vail pass is slowly melting. Today I was able to ride 3.75 miles up the pass, which was absolutely wonderful. Yesterday, we had a moose walk though our yard. It is the first moose...

    Mobility help

Here are a few thoughts about a trailer. A trailer could work, but would be impractical for me where I live. First, you need to make sure your vehicle is equipped to haul a trailer. It will need a receiver, trailer wiring harness, and a brake controller. My SUV had a receiver and trailer...

    Mobility help

First, be very careful about picking out a wheelchair. If the Q6 3 works for your situation, then it would be fine. But, don't let the wheelchair folks talk you into a wheelchair that does not suit your needs. Second, your Lincoln Nautilus will barely be able to haul the wheelchair on a...

    Shaving (mainly for the guys)

I use an electric razor. I have found one that fits in my hand well enough that I don't need to grip it. I mostly hold the electric razor in one position and move my face around on it. This works well for me now. In the future, I will return to having a beard. Steve

    military strategy

That is great. I come from a military family, so have heard similar lists put forward before (though, typically favoring Air Force). I must point out that you left out rules for the new Space Force. We need some! Steve

PALS ROLL CALL NEW THREAD (PALS ONLY) [Wednesday or whenever]

Is it Wednesday already? During the lockdown I have been busy doing little projects on the computer. I have been slowly processing the thousands of slides I scanned a couple of years ago. I am probably a month away from having them ready to share with my family. That has been enjoyable...
