I just came back from my neuro today and he referred me for a 2nd opinion. I'm beside myself. He said emg shows 3 levels of failure to diagnose ALS. He was pretty sure it's als but he always refers out for a second opinion. I failed 2 but passed the 3rd. I'm having speech difficulty mostly when I'm stressed, some swallowing problems maybe one or twice a week.
All started last Feb 2110 That week I started twitching at night. No weakness anywhere, going all day without a problem, just twitching at night. In May 2110 and my speech began to slur when I was tired. The speech thing went on and off until this Dec when it progressively got worse. My mri shows bilateral degeneration. He asked me if I ever tried to commit suicide (i didn't) or if I ever lost oxygen. I have no weakness and all the als physical tests like jumping jacks, hopping on one foot, balancing on balls of foot on the edge of a curb and walking down stairs backwards, I can do with no problem.
