  • Believe me, treat the anxiety - DO go on anxiety websites and learn tips for handling anxiety - one great site is ANXIETYCENTRE.COM - it is so worth the few dollars to join the member site (I think it is $8.99/mo) and read about how to deal with anxiety. It has helped me get through this. Breathing, talking positively to yourself saying healing things in your mind, listening to calming music and prayer all help.

Your post is not long and I am here. Feel free to reach out, vent, talk or share as you need to. Also, have you been on the BFSRECOVERY.COM page? It is outstanding and is a magnificent group of very supportive people who will totally understand what you are going through more than you can imagine. I was told I have BFS, too, but as other symptoms developed I got very scared and anxious. I also feel like no one understood until I found the BFS group. So many of them have been through what we are going through and some are still going through it.
Well a couple of things ... First if you are young (and I think you might be if 1992 in your name is relevant to your age) then you have a huge positive on your side. Second, you mention Levaquin... Did you know that one of the most common side effects of this drug is twitching? I think I have even read there are some lawsuits for that or CIPRO for the fact it has affected people's balance and gait (normally in older people). The neuralgia pain sounds like it affected your ulnar nerve as it was specific to the 3rd 4th and 5th digits... This is a good thing as it means a specific Nerve got hit.
I went to see a neuromuscular specialist two times. . Once in February. He did a thorough exam and said he thought it was viral and some if not all my symptoms would go away. He said the twitching was BFS. He scheduled me for a follow up in 6 months but said to return if my symptoms changed. The last three toes on my left foot were tingly. I went back to the neuro 4 weeks ago. Told him my fears and what I thought I had and he said no that there is no pain with that disease. I told him I had read where there was. He has ordered a nerve conduction study and EMG of my left arm and left leg. I go August 9 and am scared to death. None of my friends can relate to what I am going through. I feel so alone sometimes. :( I'm sorry for the long post.
Thank you so much. It all started the day after Thanksgiving. I had a headache on my left temple/cheek area that wouldn't go away. I went to urgent care and the doctor put me on Levaquin and a Medrol steroid dose pack. The day after taking the medicine I developed a rash on my left cheek. Went to my PCP and he diagnosed me with shingles and put me on Valtrex. Rash went away but headache persisted. Then the Saturday before Christmas, the fingertips of my last three fingers on my left hand were tingly so I went to the ER. The doctor ordered a CT,MRI and MRA of he head. All came back clear. He diagnosed me with post herpetic neuralgia and put me on neurotin. I took that for 3 weeks. When I tried to increase my dose, that's when the twitching all over my body and dizziness started. My left ring finger felt funny, like it didn't want to work and my left forearm ached horribly. I went off the neurotin.
