  • Read you were in the ER, looked but couldn't see a why or who or how or what happened. Hope all is resolved now and doing better.
KK is my middle daughter, 28. She's my CALS. She moved here last July from San Diego to help take care of my Mom when I was no longer able to do it on my own. Mom passed away in Nov 2011 with Parkinson's and CLL. I had moved to GA to care for her in 2005. Michelle is #1 and 30 with two beautiful children. She and her husband moved back here from San Diego last September. They had opened a satellite branch of their company out there a couple of years ago. KK continues to work for her sister's Co. here in town and is very close by...mabe a mile away if I need her. Her move made it possible for me to participate in the Ceftriaxone Trial. Baby Jackie, 25 is still in NY(since 3rd grade) She's owns a Photography Co.(Weddings, etc) and coaches girls LaCrosse for their old highschool where Dad still teaches the JROTC Program. check them out in my photo albums. ;-) I'm one proud Momma!
I'm good! Sun today. It should be a good one! Hope you're all rested up and ready to go! I'm glad you got things taken care of Sweets! xoxoxoxo
Hi! I think today is Clinic day for you guys so just wanted to wish you luck. We'll all be pulling for you guys. I sure hope the experience is a positive one for your family. Mine has been wonderful.
Thanyou so much for asking Sharlene.. She is moving a lot slower these days..Pretty devastated after her confrimation of DX from Mayo Clinic. Also an acquaintance of ours here in Gaylord passed away this week with ALS..close to home for all of us.. Realization Stinks. today we are going on a road trip to Frankenmuth to visit her Sister and see me off on a flight to AZ. Should be fun for us..as we do still tend to laugh as much as we can. How is your Dad? Did he get the Bi-Pap? Is he sleeping better? I love Donna so much and this hurts so much..thankyou for letting me share with you. Mary..
I'm afraid 42% FVC isn't very good but the Bipap will help a lot! You have just enough for me Sweet Lady and I thank you for your friendship. I'm going to check out your pictures now! xoxoxo
Hey, Hope you're beginning to feel like you're getting a handle on things and that VA is providing the support you need to care for your Dad.

Sharlene please ask the VA for a special document so that either you or your Mom can have the ability to discuss or make changes on behalf of your Dad. You'll need one for Social Security as well. Neither agency will recognize a Power of Attorney.

I was able to continue using our sofas for along while by placing bed risers under the legs. The seats needed to be braced against the wall so they didn't slide but this really helped me a lot. They're available at Walmart or Bed Bath and Beyond. I ordered two sets online from W'mart. I found that a bedside commode placed over the toilet gave me the extra height I needed in order to be able to stand up. Of course having arms on the commode was a big help as well. We didn't need to install handrails.
    Good luck sweetie,
    Deb
Hi Sharlene! Well I live in Loveland Colorado now, I still have 3 sisters and their familys there and get there and Grand Rapids every once in awhile. I also have 3 sisters and a brother in TX along with my Mom that travels between the three states. I am blessed to have my husband and my family. I couldn't do this without them. :)

I think there are a few ALS clinics in MI and I have a link for you. http://www.alsofmi.org/?p=aami It's best to go to a clinic because they'll have the best ALS doctors there. He'll need a Neurologist and a Pulmonologist and they'll make recomendations as to who else he'll need to help you all with this, It'll make things a lot easier. It's so nice to meet a fellow Michiganian!!

Is your Dad already on Medicare and collecting Social Security? If not, I can help you there as well. Let me know on that.

    Big Hugs,

    Marta
