  • Thank you! I will email if I have any questions. I'm gonna have to call sooner than later. Dad went to the dr's yesterday & was told the strength in his legs is diminishing (which we all knew). My parents live in a split house so the Dr gave him a month to "move" to the lower level. Doesn't want him climbing the stairs. We all of course knew this was coming yet it is so frustrating!! Expecially for my Dad I'm sure!
No I haven't. I'm visiting this afternoon with my parents and I'm gonna check with them to see if they wanted me to. I just don't want to overstep any boundries :)
I don't think they will an issue with me calling but you never know?
Call 800 795 4327 tell them about Dad and when he was DX and have just learned they might be able to help him. That # is PVA headquarters.Good luck----------Hugs Ken
Start today,Call the PVA this will be the most important thing you can do,you will be amazed what they will do for your Dad,and also he will get a monthy check, also call your local ALS chapter, they will help you also, you can goggle PVA and get your tel numbers. You should know 60% of ALS victems are vets and the VA will list dad 100% disabled, this will save him tons of money!
My Dad probably graduated around 1953.
This forum is great! I have learned alot & I know I am not alone with my thoughts, feelings & fears. I think it is great that your daughter is there for you! My siblings and I all live within 15 mins from my parents so we are there in a heartbeat if need be. Of course we are constantly visiting & trying to give my Mom a hand.
Ya know my Dad is a vet and I have told my Mom that there has to be some kind of help or support that they can give. She hasn't looked into it and I am not sure where to start? The local VA?? He was in the Navy.
