Hello Everyone! I came here looking for information about ALS and saw this caregiver forum. I'm both a caregiver and a relative. My sister was diagnosed with ALS last month and she has gone down hill very rapididly. Her symptoms are Bulbar and started with what we thought was a sinus infection, nasal voice, from that she progressed to slurred speech, now she's unable to speak at all! A week ago she was having trouble breathing so we called 911 and was hospitalized. she has become extremely weak and now they are going to place a PEG tube. she also seems to be in a lot of pain which is something new. Has anyone else here had anyone progress so quickly? and how do you hold it together when it is a loved one. My sister and I are extremely close, usually when you see one you see the other so this is very difficult for me. I want to make her better and I feel so helpless and I hate to see her suffer so. Any advice would he greatly appreciated!
