I have been diagnosed with Bulbar onset ALS and have a positive C9orf72 sign.
First symptoms were slurred speech and excessive drooling at night niticed in Sept 2019. Diagnosed with probable ALS in June 2020. My speech continued with a slur unit January 2020 then has constantly diminished and is almost impossible to understand now 14 months after first slurring. I do have some swallowing trouble mostly trouble with mouth control/weakness. I’m starting to having trouble walking and my balance iis almost gone. I use a walker. I still have strength in my legs but am having hand weakness. I joke that I’ve gone from sounding drunk to walking drunk.
