  • Hi Quinny, good to hear from you, and I'm glad your visit to Lahey went well. It's nice to be in a place where there is so much expertise, isn't it? Just wanted to wish you and your family a happy holiday season with your girls home. My son (21, senior at Univ of Denver) comes home next Tuesday, my daughter, 19, is living at home (thankfully gainfully employed) while she gets her bearings, and will be glad to have his company. She's been having a hard time adjusting to our changed circumstances-- but may finally learn to cook well as I become less adept in the kitchen. Jack is only home for a week and I know it will go too fast. I am having a hard time getting in the holiday spirit, most unusual for me. But we'll be OK! Enjoy your time with your girls, and best to you and yours.

Hi Quinny, and apologies for not answering - I don't know my way around this forum very well yet and did not even know your message was waiting for me! I have not connected with support groups here-- I know there is one in Augusta (2nd Fri @ month), and I will check in with that one soon. I have been focused on getting my care plan in place and last week went to the ALS clinic at Mass General to compare that with Lahey. Both places were excellent. We saw Dr Jim Russell at Lahey and he was so thorough and compassionate. It was harder to get an appt at MGH - my neuro in Ptld had recommended I see Dr Merit Cudkowicz and, as the head doc, she is hard to get in with. I felt like I would get great care at either place- well worth the 3 hr drive- and have decided to go with MGH since I found Dr C's approach a little more aggressive, in a good way. Now I am arguing with my insurance, who thinks I don't need to go out of state. I hope you and your hubby are doing OK. Let's keep in touch.
