    Riluzole

I took it for 3 months back in 2007.. Started to make my skin and eyes go yellow (Not a good sign).. After reading the complete clinical study I decided it was not worth it.. The final conclusion seems ti indicate that it "MAY" add a few months to your life. I'm sure if I had continued to...

    I keep gaining weight

I've been told that a high fat / high calorie diet is the best thing I could do to help slow the rate of muscle degeneration. Despite the fact I have had a heart attack in the past (2005)

Tips for Hosting a Friend with ALS

Personally my biggest issues that tend to keep me from leaving the house are.. Hand rails on all stairs and Toilets that are chair height ( 17+ in.) c/w hand rails. ( I rarely leave the house these days :( ) Most Hospitals and Restaurants don't even meet these (my) requirements. :'(

I have a new drinking problem

I can drink beer out of a pilsener glass.. Out of the bottle results in a very wet shirt.. ;-) Also have to use a twist top bottle opener as there is no hope for my bare hand to open it. Other thing I have an issue with these days is a bic. lighter with the child guard still on it.

    How to carry phone?

I just carry mine in my pocket every-time I step outside.. Even just to grab the mail.. I don't worry about it too much in the house.. I'm at the point now that if I even get down on the floor there had better be something for me to pull myself up on :-( While in the house I could crawl to one...

    Trouble getting Riluzole

I read the clinical trials and stopped taking it after a couple of months even though it's 100% covered under my plan. It was also reeking havoc with my liver. (Diag. 2007) Still up and about (Slowly and carefully)

Funniest E-Mail I have had in a long time... LOL A man received the following text from his neighbor: I am so sorry Bob. I've been riddled with guilt and I have to confess. I have been tapping your wife, day and night when you're not around. In fact, more than you. I'm not getting any at...

When I was given the official news back in 2007, I didn't have much hope that I would be celebrating New Years Eve. 2013 .. HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone.. Let's hope this year brings new hope for a new treatment/cure that works..

How to apply for long term disability...

I continued to work until I became a direct risk to myself and others on the job site.. Leaving that site and the support I got from my co-workers was one of the most emotional things I ever encountered.. Now a few years later.. Walking to the car is enough to wear me out.. But.. I'm still able...

How to apply for long term disability...

Great west still requires updates from time to time to see if your condition has improved... I once told them.. If my condition improves you will be reading about it in the headlines... But alas.. I (my wife fills them out now) still have to fill out the forms once/twice a year.. (Also a set for...
