Hello Papasgirl. I am so sorry you are facing this disease. Learn all you can about ALS, prepare for future needs before you need them. It is not alway possible to get equipment immediately so early preparation is vital. Do contact the ALS clinic (we went to the one at MacMaster, Dr. Turnbull), they will have soooooo much info and help for you. They will also be able to put you in touch with special branches of medicine you will need, respiralogy, communication devices, and ambulatory equipment. There is also financial help if needed. I live in Vineland and remember all the "stuff" that was needed during my sisters illness.
ALS is overwhelming but, please remember one thing, Drs. can only give a "best estimate" when talking about how long one has. I personally know a gentleman who has been 20 years and another with much more than 2.
