  • Oh, Pam, I am so very sorry about your loss of Rudy. That is such a shock, since he had only had ALS for about 16 or so months. I'm sure you are feeling a sense of great shock as well as exhaustion if your situation is similar to others whose husbands were so badly struck with this disease. You and all your family are in my thoughts and prayers as you grieve and miss your Rudy.
    Love,
    Ann
Hi Pam, have you posted at all yet? I hope you're finding your way around here. I'm glad Rudy has the power chair, and glad he's not falling as much. It takes some getting used to, knowing when to stay put when you think you can still stand up. I am glad to hear from you and hope your night is good.
    Love, Ann
Pam, that's a fast progression, isn't it... I'm sure it's been a rollercoaster for you all. Is Rudy in a power chair at this point? I'm glad you're trusting the Lord with all this. It's the only way I'd have any calm. Have you written on Brooksea's profile page, yet? She has a son at home. There are many here with children at home... You and your family are in my prayers, Pam. I'm glad you've shared some of Rudy's history with me. Hugs and blessings, Ann
I began with my feet, late in '04, but didn't realize it was a definite problem until summer of '05. Life changes a lot as adjustments are made, but my husband, Phil, and I are doing okay. Friends from church are my caregivers when Phil's at work, and we rely on the Lord, thankful for what we have right now. We don't have children, Pam.

I'm glad you left me a message. Please feel free to join in and comment. You are among friends here, and don't worry at all about doing anything "right". It'll be fine. There's even a weather thread to comment on. I look forward to seeing you posting messages!

    Hi Pam,
You might want to just post something down in the next to bottom thread on the main page, where it says Welcome New Members, Say Hello", or in the general thread, or the "ALS/MND Caregivers" thread. If you do go to the "Welcome new members" area at the bottom of the page, Pam, there are some directions about starting a thread. That's where you might ask a question, or tell about something going on with your husband, or anything you want to talk about.

There are many folks here who have children at home, and I know it's both a blessing and a concern for them. How did your husband's first symptom begin, and how is he now? What areas does he struggle with?
