  • Hi there gal~~~
Thanks for the info about the sheep skin. I am wondering if that would work over his therapeutic lateral rotation mattress replacement system. Whew that is a moughful .....Do you have any thoughts????
I t has taken a week or more but his rash is finally gone. Used lots of calagel. It took the itch and redness away. Good stuff.
Thank you for responding to my questions! I'm a Christian too! I have had these symptoms going on about 2 months.. hands numb while typing now too. It started when I woke up and my soft pallet and uvula was touching my tongue..then the cramping in the jaws and twitches all over. Does this sound at all like ALS? It feels like the inside of my mouth is pulling down. Thank you!!
It will be a relief to retire. I was putting in 10 hours a day but worrying the whole time about Jim as he is getting weaker. Getting work off my plate will be a big relief. I will miss the friendships from work but looking forward to being with Jim and being there for him. We will start remodeling the bathroom soon and I think that will hep him out a lot, too. Have a bless day.
Hey~~ Forgot to remind you to please complete the survey for the upcoming FDA Hearing on ALS. Sharon would have wanted us to all complete this.
Hey gal!!! Thanks for the visitor message. We are doing ok here. One day at a time, you know!!! Using BIpap or Triology Vent 24/7 now. Some spacity in his legs as they just do not seem to bend as well as they used to. He is also having some trouble sleeping complaining that his bed does not feel as good. He has an Invacare Hospital bed and one of those inflating mattresses. I will soon need to find a minute to contact the salesperson from Recover Care. How are you???
Saw your post earlier and wanted to see how you are doing. Since the beginning of the year, it has been busy but I decided to retire and be home with Jim. His legs are getting wearker and I decided it was time for me to focus on him. Hopefully, we can get a few trips in before he gets weaker.
    Hi Marta,
How are things going for you lately? I am probally going to be getting a apartment real soon. I'm really sad about it. I'm really taking it hard. My husband and I love each other but can't get along under the same roof. I hope eventually things will work out but he doesn't seem to willing to work it out. I am still living at my dad's for now. Dad is doing so-so currently. He is back taking a few steps while his care-taker holds his gait belt and dad uses his walker. I won't attempt to do it. But, his caretaker is very strong and is trained in doing it. My sister is currently here for week from Texas. Dad had stayed with her for several months after diagnosis. She thinks dad looks pretty good and she hasn't seen his November. Take care, Kim
glad to hear that you are adapting. ugghh just when you get used to a symptom or loss..... BOOM.... here comes another.

i am still using a walker some in the house, or VERY short distances. i am using a loaner travel power chair when I want to get things done. I have not ordered a powrchair yet. this small one is working good. until the next change comes.
    Blessings to you and yours
    Hi Marta,
We live in a really small town so unfortunately there are any support groups here. We do have a small VA clinic that has been extremely helpful and kind to my dad. Dad is doing so-so. He is getting weaker in arms now. Dad had to go out of town this week to get his bi-pap monitored and adjusted. He had a pulmonary function test and everything came out really good. Doctor said he really doesn't need the bi-pap yet but can use it if he wants. I am currently staying at my dad's due to some marital problems. Hoping things work out. Take care, Kim
Hi Kim! Do you ever take him to the ALS Support group in your area? Brad and I really do enjoy going to ours. They are a wealth of information, friendship, and comfort. I'm getting weaker too but am still moving! ;). How are you doing?
    Hi Marta,
How are things going with you? Dad just got a really nice wheelchair ramp installed through the VA. We haven't took him out though too much yet because of flu season. He just got over a bout with the flu right after Christmas. We were very lucky he got over it. Dad is doing so-so. He is getting alot weaker in the arms which is frustrating him. My brother got him Netflix which he enjoys on both his Ipad and tv. Take care, Kim
Hey Marta:) I hope you enjoyed your Christmas seeing yur family. Did you get snow? I went to St. Simons Island, Georgia for Christmas and Jesus answered my prayers and allowed me to photgraphy (two times) the Snowy Owl that was on St. Simons Island. I'll have to add him to my photos on here. I also put him n my blog. I took photos on Christmas Day. That was the best Christmas gift, and a once in a lifetime opportunity! What a blessing:) Much love ~ Judy
    Hi Marta,
Merry Christmas! I am working at the hospital today and glad that we aren't overly busy. We had a really nice dinner with my dad and aunt at my house Christmas Eve. It was just relaxing with lots of laughter. Dad was glad to come over and get out of his house for awhile. We are supposed to get our first winter snowfall either late tonite or in the morning. Thanks for your friendship and support on this forum to me. Kim
