    DX from PLS to ALS

Judith, I concur completely. We were diagnosed in the ssme year. How are YOU doing at this point? Are you still maintaining your mobility and everything? I can do most things pretty much but I can't do them for long. When you do do things do you end up paying for it? I can make myself do...

    DX from PLS to ALS

JerrieandGerrie, My U of M is the University of Minnesota. I'm becoming a believer that there are so many different variations of ALS that the Drs. aren't even aware of them and all their symptoms. My Dr. says that there are a lot of Drs. that think PLS doesn't exist, it's just a benign flavor...

Cold hands and slow refill time

My hands and feet are freezing all the time. The only way I can get warm anymore is hopping into the Jacuzzi. It warms me up for quite awhile. There is one draw back, however, I get super weak also. I guess that's to be expected, but I can live withit, I just have to be very careful.

I understand completly how you are feeling. I wouldn't say it's selfish at all, one does have to take care of themself. I hope everything goes as well as possible for your Aunt. I hope that you start feeling a little better. Take care

    DX from PLS to ALS

Caroline, I doubt that anyone else needed an explanation. I do appreciate your efforts, please keep it up. I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt. I cannot imagine being in a situation like that. My sympathy goes out to you and your aunt. I hope she is not suffering. Hang in there Caroline.

    DX from PLS to ALS

Boy I can't get my little mind around all of that. Is the moral of the story that UMN and LMN is involved in both ALS and PLS? It is just the extent of the involvement. I may have missed the gist of all that. HELP!

    DX from PLS to ALS

Lydia, I lose track of what thread I said what on, but I didn't know he changed the diagnosis until a couple of months after my visit. It was while speaking with the ALS nurse at the clinic that she said "oh, I see your diagnosis changed." Really? Me going to the Neuro early isn't going to...

    DX from PLS to ALS

Olly, I didn't take what you said as an offense. I just don't want to worry anyone needlessly. I guess I have to think before I write. That's a novel idea for me. :-)

    DX from PLS to ALS

Olly, No one ever accused me of being normal! :o) I think if it weren't from my father being a victim of ALS that I probably wouldn't even be diagnosed yet. I knew that these twitches weren't normal, I knew that swallowing food three our four times to get it down wasn't normal. I knew the...

    DX from PLS to ALS

My original symptoms was the twitching after any exercise. My legs also got very weak rapidly. This is the reason I saw my family Dr. and he in turn referred me to my first Neuro who diagnosed it as ALS. He in turn referred me to the U of M to the Neuro who had taught him. The second neuro gave...

    DX from PLS to ALS

Lydia, When the twitches first started it was only after using my legs quite a bit. They are now present all the time and visible. My leg pain was caused by 3 bad discs in my back which I had a spinal chord stimulator implanted. That took care of my leg pain. My legs still get stiff, but not...

    DX from PLS to ALS

Sharonca, No, I got SS four years ago from the diagnosis my first neuro gave me. My present neuro is the one that said he was 90% sure it was PLS. It was only last September that he changed the diagnosis. Maybe I'm making too big of a deal out of it.
