  • Doris, I just heard the sad news. I can't believe it! Gosh, you just got your new bed and computer! I will miss you, my friend. Please hug Sharon for me! Sing with the angels Doris. Sing.
    Hi Doris,
Merry Christmas! How are things going for you? My dad is doing so-so. It is so hard to see him become thinner and weaker. He isn't young at 78 but before he had ALS he was in better shape and had more energy then most 30 year olds. He used to love to go for long walks and now can't walk without someone behind him at all times holding onto his gait belt. Dad was able to make it over to my house to celebrate Christmas Eve with my family. We had a very nice time. It was the first time my dad was at my house in over six months. Take care of yourself, Kim
    Hi Doris,
How are you doing? My dad (78) seems to be pretty much at a standstill with his progression right now. He uses a wheelchair when he goes out anywhere but gets along pretty well with his walker in the house. He take Ritulek because he's a veteran and they cover it. He is supposed to find out in a couple weeks if he gets to participate in a clinical trial or not. Hoping he gets in it. Take care and drop me a note anytime and tell me about yourself. Kim
I am glad your ok and a nurse is coming. I'm still a little nervous about the spikes seen on my emg. I am thinking of going to Penn u for my second opinion and canceling RWJ? I watched the housewives too. lol
So did you finally get a diagnosis Doris? Are you being well taken care of? Hugs back at you!
Hi Sweet Doris! I'm still chugging along! Still breathing, speaking and swallowing fine. I can't walk very far anymore and my fingers like to curl and my core is getting weak. But I'm doing well! How are you Dear One?
Hi Doris! I have a picture in my Michigan pictures of what mine look like if you want to see. They're made of carbon fiber and come up to mid calf. They make walking so much easier! I cant remember the brand but will look and let you know later. It starts with an O.
    Love you Doris!
Hi Doris, So glad to hear from you, yes we must catch up. There is a lot to tell. I will PM you with more.
Both wheelchair and walker. I try not to use the chair but airports are too rough to walk. If I travel alone I always order a wheelchair. So much easier except for O'Hare. I hate O'Hare! My hands don't work very well as well as my legs so crafts are impossible for me. my houseplants are a big enough job for me. :)
I have great neighbors who keep me busy. I still drive so can go out if I want to. I don't do stairs anymore at all. If they don't have disabled access close by I don't go there! I call first to make sure. When I stay home it takes me so long to get cleaned up and make the bed that it takes up most of the day. I spend my time reading, talking to friends here, on FaceBook and Patients like me. We're going to Texas for Mother's Day weekend and then Mom will fly back with us and spend a couple weeks with us before heading to Michigan for the summer. One sister from Michigan will spend one of those weeks here and fly to MI with her. Then friends from Minnesota will come for a visit around Labor Day. Then friends from Texas are coming in June. And so on. It's going to be a busy summer with lots of company!
