My mom was diagnosed with ALS in March of 20015. The first year she did really well. But the last 5 months things have started to go down hill. She has lost so much weight that they are want to put her on a feeding tube but only for a bolus. They still want her to eat. She has NO problems with swallowing and her breathing is very good. Is loss of appetite part of the disease? I tell her to eat several small meals a day. But like the other things she is suppose to be doing (like wearing her support socks and her shoes with braces) she just flat our refuses to do them. Is she just giving up?
