  • I started a blog about me and Donna on this journey thru ALS.. It is a private blog for family only..I am hoping that someday when I read back on it, it will help me with the loss. For now we are living, garage sale-ing, shopping and laughing as much as we can.. oh..and eating!! so much for the diets we have always been on.
Well, Donna recieved a confirmation of the ALS Dx at Mayo Clinic this week...our glimmer of hope has been blown out. Now we proceed to live day by day with love, laughter and prayer.
Hi Mary, I was wondering how your friend is doing? I hope all is as well as could be.
"Thank god for family and good friends" we would be lost without you all !
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I hope she gets better news at Mayo. We're supposed to hear from the Henry Ford ALS clinic Monday. Meanwhile he's having a sleep study done tonight so they can get a bi-pap ordered to help him breathe. We're in New Lothrop so every drive to Detroit is a pain - tome away from work for me' wear and tear on the car, and most importantly, laborious for Dad.

    Thanks for saying hi!

Thank you for your message, I am so sorry about your friend. I know she's in good hands to have a friend like you on this website getting information and trying to help out. My husband is going for a muscle/nerve biopsy Thursday, 1/19/12 and then we have to wait until March 5th for the results! The waiting really stinks, I hate living in limbo.....What do you do with the house, the kids and everything else in between. I will keep you and your friend in my prayers. God Bless You.

Mary, It's wonderful that you've joined this site as a way to help support your friend. I'm so sorry that she's received a DX of ALS. You'll find a wealth of info and some truly caring folks. It has been a lifeline for me. It really helps to be able to read the old posts of those who have gone before on this journey. It really helps me to be proactive and gives me insight into what issues I need to bring up with my physician on my quarterly ALS Clinic visits. I'd only run across one ALS patient in my entire nursing career so there is sooo very much that I just did NOT know about the disease. I really appreciate the willingness of the forum members to share their experiences. Let me know how I can help....Deb
