  • Hey, Geri at TN mobility told me that she spoke with you. I was wondering where you got your van, does it have a lift or what are y'all doing for transportaiton? thanks
Thanks Miss for the information. I as well have tried to bring in what is needed before it is needed. Ric is adamant he wants nothing to prolong this. No feedtube, no respirator etc... Today he has agreed to a neb and ventolin. I have already checked into a lift to help get him in and out of bed, when the time comes for it. Home care and palliative care are lined up for if and when we need it. For now we are coping on our own. My prayers are with you, and all here who are going through this tough journey. I don't know why but today I have been weepy. Maybe I just finally had time to. Take care and thanks for the support.
Hi Missy. Thanks for your kind words to my post about what to tell young children. I am sorry we are all having to be here...but I am thankful we have a place to go for help. Thank you again - Christina
Missy, A guy, Jimmy Tarver, on Face book has a Lazy Boy lift recliner he needs to get rid of.(Free) He lives in Pikesville TN.
Missy, I just came by to tell you I'm thinking about you and what you may be dealing with... I did read that you were wanted 24/7 to be right by your husband. Here's a big hug. (((HUG))) I can tell you are doing great. Very tough position to be in, but you are a strong woman.
    Prayers for you,
    Ann
Missy, have you asked your ALSA about respite grants? I know they are given here. I'm very blessed to be in the DC, Virginia and MD chapter, which, I'm told has many wealthy benefactors (across the Bay from me--we are not, on this Eastern Shore side, a well-to-do area). I hope that your ALSA can help you... or the MDA. Or your church. Do folks at your church know your needs, I wonder. I also realize it is not a universal "given"--being a believer and therefore doing the more difficult things. Our culture has become very selfish, I'm afraid. I do hope that for your situation that isn't the case.

    Missy, loads of love--
    Ann
So glad you are having a better day, and also that you had some good sleep last night. I am praying for your sleep...and for your help needs to be met.
    Dearest Missy,
I have those "weepy days" myself. I've recently experienced another loss--not exactly new, yet not noticeably a loss which is to stay. Yesterday I climbed out of weakness, but sleep has been uncomfortable (back pain; working on a solution), so the lack of sleep makes it (the loss) seem so much harder. Anyway, just wanted to be truthful. This is an all out fight against an enemy who'd like nothing better than spiritual collapse. I'm still seeing this as a GOOD day, with the Lord's help. I can still type. LOL, I will learn to be grateful for anything, I hope.
    Love,
    Ann
Will it let you update the thread to let everyone know she has arrived in England safely and that her daughter Sue is going to try and get her back on the forum ASAP. If you wouldn't mind xxx Ang
    Hi Miss

I can understand that; and yet I have yet to face the immenance that so painfully fills your thoughts. I do feel for you, and as I have been reading some of your posts I can feel the distress that you are facing together. The Lord bless you; I pray that grace and peace fill your thoughts and days together.

    Missy,
I thought you'd like to know we are in our 21st year of marriage also! Your comment about the difficulty of being on different paths touched me, tore me a little! Yes, that's truly a hard thing to live with isnt it? Especially when the idea was always to share the same path for many years yet. Thank you.
    Hi Missy,
I am wondering, do you know who to navigate the VA? I am hitting brick walls. I've sent in over 2 pounds of paperwork and tons of forms. Now, I'm having to go through an Army hospital to get the doctors part filled out because our local doctor doesn't feel total loss of one hand/arm and partial loss of the other and his leg doesn't mean we need help. Thanks a bunch. Jan
It is Julia. Do you already know her? She is really struggling and I want to find a way to help her.
    Miss,

My best friend lives in Bartlett and her husband has been diagnosed with ALS for 3 years. It sounds like your circumstances are so similar to hers. I love for you to have the opportunity to talk to her. If you are interested, please email me at [email protected] and I can tell you more about her. She really needs to talk to person going through similar circumstances.
