    ALS Progression?

Hi Al! Yep, albeit, I'm not as regimented as I once was. But I try to stay regular with c, e, d and omega 3. How are you keeping? (sorry Jeff, don't mean to hijack thread. Al, shoot me a pm when you can.) Stay strong!

    ALS Progression?

Hi Jeff, I agree with Helen about getting checked out for lyme, very similar condition. As well, were you overseas while in the military? Specifically during the Gulf war? If you prefer, you can send me a PM. Good luck!

Am I having a panic attack?

A natural anti-anxiety supp. that I've tried and had success with is L-Theanine. This is an amino found in green tea. You can find it in most legit health stores. Helluva lot better than ativan, imo.

    Scared

After what you experienced with your Dad I can see how anxiety can creep in to every cramp and such. It sounds to me that maybe you pulled or strained a muscle which would account for the twitch as well. Keep playing!

    Petition

 Sorry, I don't get the point of this petition. If you don't like the way the org advocates, then get involved in the ALSA and effect change from the inside. My $.02 fwiw.

    Power chairs?

Hi Jim I've had good luck with Pride and heard a lot of good about Permobil. I've been burned by Invacare, so no recommendation from me. For a ranch, I have no problem with a mid wheel drive, I find it a smooth ride. I take mine (Pride Q6000) to my brother-in-law's ranch and no problem. Get...

ami ata risk of getting als as my father has als?

The muscle twitching or 'shaking' can be from one of any hundred or so causes, including too much worry. As Al said, the chances are very low, so I would say to try not to worry and focus on your time with your father. Put your effort into living life...not worrying about what may or may not...

"Drive Lock Out" due to mercury switch?

Hi mare, just saw your reply on my thread in 'rants and raves', this is unbelievable! My med supply company told me that they are moving away from dealing in Invacare power wchairs. They have had too many problems trying to get parts and repairs. Kelly, this was exactly the problem with...

Wheelchairs or Things that make you go hmmm

Here's my adventure story; I had a Pride 1170 power wchair that I bought in '99. My son called it 'big blue' and it was a workhorse! Lasted me for years with minimal trouble. In late '08 I had to retire big blue...time to move on. So I'm shopping around and I see this slick...

Hi there, The laughing/crying uncontrollably is called pseudobulbar affect (pba). It's something that happens in ALS and really embarrassing! I have started on amitryptiline (spelling may not be right)about 10mg and have found it pretty effective. There is another tmt coming soon. Have you...

    Travelling

He's feeling sorry for himself. It's one of those places that we all visit from time-to-time, the trick is not to take up residence there. When I get whiny or in a mood, my wife says that I've got 20 minutes of self pity time, then I have to get back in the game. She leaves me alone for a...
