Thanks so much for helping with the pictures Max. I don't know if it was my laptop of what but I couldn't get them on. Kim
.>Did you have any luck with the pictures? I don't know how to get them on here

yup, I'll put them up in a bit ... :)
    Hi Max,
Did you have any luck with the pictures? I don't know how to get them on here.
    Hey Max,
Is there a state spelled Kanas? A new guy going by davbo49 claims he was just diagnosed. He spells it that way several times. I know some people aren't overly bright but if he's legit you'd think he know how to spell the state he lives in. Would he make a typo twice?
    > Anything else you think I should tell them?

    vet/va #1
no falls or sick people #2
emotional roller coaster #3, be prepared, go with the flow
make sure diagnosis was by an ALS neuro and get a second opinion anyway #4
Get him on the forum, starting with the jokes area and dihals thread to see what others thought/feared #5
if she is online comfortable, get her to visit in newly diagnosed and we'll engage her #6

    Good luck!
    Hi Max,
I just had a former co-worker of mine just call and she asked me about my dad. She's been retired for quite awhile and is 86. She then broke down and told me her son was just diagnosed with ALS. I told her about this site. She is going to tell her son and daughter in-law about it. She said he is going to be participating in some type of clinical trial. Sounds like his has started in the legs. I forgot to ask her if he's a veteran. I will let them know about it as well. Anything else you think I should tell them? Kim
    >Hey, Max. My wife and I were talking about Dr. Appel's 3-day clinic and trying to figure out what actually goes on during such a lengthy timeframe. Any insights? Thanks!

well, you will see eight of the key disciplines, give 14 vials of blood, lumbar puncture, general neuro exam by an ALS specialist. And, of course, the EMG. All very orderly and well managed. In my case I received my diagnosis at noon on the first day. they also do an optional neuro-psych eval if EL has presented itself.

zero stress. Assume not ALS until told otherwise. Drink plenty of fluids for a few days before.

    Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear that. I've been taking L-Serine for 6 weeks, 30 grams/day -- I notice better emotional control and a little bit slower progression. OK for rasagiline trial because I'm taking it on my own as a supplement.
Thanks for your answer; hang in there.
Hi Max, I'm wondering if you started the Gilenya trial and how that is going. I have opportunity to do rasagiline and saw your comment. I see it has possible 6 mo placebo followed by 12 mo dose, so can eventually get it.... some of the research I've read sounds promising but I don't see any comments from participants.... are we sworn to secrecy or something to get into these trials?
