  • Hi Marypat,
Just dropped by to say Hi! Our youngest son just got back from visiting my dad who has ALS in Dallas the other week. My dad seems to be currently at a standstill with his progression. When he was first diagnosed it was moving pretty fast. Our son even commented that grandpa looks alot better then he did when he last saw him on Labor Day weekend. Dad uses a bi-pap just at night and it has done wonders for him. He sleeps better at night and has more energy now during the day. Take care, Kim
    Hi Marypat,

I am no expert on these things. I tried a couple out and only just recently purchased my own. My SLP gently suggested that I would probably have better luck with a Dynavox instead of a Tobii. So I did and I regret it. I wish I had gone with my gut and went with a Tobii.

As far as eyegaze working outside, it should be fine from what I know although haven't tried it yet. But I do know that light source reflections can make it not work, so can take some time to figure that out. Eyeglasses compound the problem outside.

Thankfully, no trouble with the fires for us directly... just a few weeks of smoke in the air breathing troubles.
sorry I just saw this. Yes I bought a different headset because after doing the 10 test recordings they told me I needed a new headset. I bought a Sennheiser that cost about $150. Of course I use it for Dragon speak as well. It does a very good job and the only problem I see is that the earpieces are a little tighter than I would like probably because of my glasses. You also need to make sure that there is no background noise in the room when you're recording. Good luck!
    Hi Marypat,
Sorry, to read of the passing of your friend this week. How are things going for you? I just purchased tickets the other day for our youngest son Eric and my aunt (dad's sister) to fly to Dallas to visit my dad in October from the 4-9th. My son has a long weekend off from school and I'm going to pull him out for a few days. He's in the 3rd grade and gets straight A's. I figure a visit with grandpa is more important. I bought my aunt's ticket as a early birthday present for her. She turns 80 in December. Our twins (Matthew & Julie) turned 15 today. Yikes! They both with be driving next year. Take Care and drop me a line when you have time. Hugs, Kim
Thank you marypat. That's how my granddaughter sees me. I'm fatter then that though lol
Hi MaryPat. I haven't been on the forum for a long time but I decided to log on today and I found a nice message from you. I hope you are well. Thank you for the warm wishes.

Hi! How are things going for you? I have had strep and then bronchitis for the past month. Finally, feeling better. My dad will be coming home for a brief visit over the Labor day weekend. It's a week before his birthday so I'm going to get a cake or something to celebrate it. Dad is getting weaker. He has been extra tired lately. He's wandering if the Ritulek he's taking is the cause. He's going to ask the doctor. He just got a breathing machine (bi-pap?) or some type of mask to wear at night. His breathing isn't too bad yet but they said it would give him more energy and is a precaution for future problems. Take care and drop a line when you have time. Hugs to you, Kim
Hi! How are things going for you? I have been pretty down with my dad being away in Dallas and my family being here in Illinois. My dad was home for a quick visit a couple weeks ago but I couldn't see him for a few days because I came down with strep throat. Dad is currently staying with my sister and her family. He will be having physical, speech, and occupational therapy right at her home 3x-s a week. Yesterday, he started on Ritulek for the first time. He thought he'd at least try it since the VA will pay for it. Praying for you. Write when you have time. Hugs, Kim
Marypat!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the hug, sending one back to you... I'm having more trouble typing, so am reading more and typing less. Need to get my Dragon worked out better I guess. Enjoy the beach,
    Hugs,
    Helen
