  • Hi, although my husband has not officially been given a diagnosis yet we have been told in not so many words that he has MND. We have had to wait 4 weeks for EMG then another 5 weeks to see neurologist for results. In the mean time he has virtually lost all speech, has more difficulty swallowing, has had a few falls as his legs give way and he has trouble just maintaining his balance. His arms are also weak and he has lost 10kg in 2 months! It is so frustrating, apart from going to the emergency department we are unable to get any help. I think I will be hiring a wheelchair to take him for his first appointment on 1st of May. This is very frightening for both of us and our children. I don't know but imagine his progression is very rapid. We first noticed slight slurred speech on Christmas day. No other obvious signs. I feel helpless
