i first noticed signs of als in february 2004, and a real decline since march 2005, so far no respitory involvment

als functional rating score my scores were 24/40 and the second 32/48 not very promising after 1 year diagnosed

yes each day can be different, even on the same day. i know if i walk too much then later in the day i cannot even get up from my chair, my legs just refuse to work. we all have good and bad moods,we tell ourselves things are fine (feelings inside not expressed) and then its a complete turn...

hi Susanna welcome to the forum, i.m also from edmonton, people can be very rude at times but this is because they don't understand. we need to educate them sometimes its just not worth the extra effort, smile at them and wish them a happy day, that usually gets to them. keep on smiling marianne

hi terri swollen legs that are shiny red is not good, i would take him to see the doctor. it could be celliulitis.

hi AL i had the lumbar puncture done, doesnot tickle. also had a bone marrow done that is even worse where they take a corkscrew instrument and take out some bone marrow.this is all to rule out other diseases. sometimes i wish it was something else other than ALS.
