    Endoscopy

Malori, I hope that you will follow Niki's advice. It is spot on. Hope that you don't need the endoscopy and wish you well.

    Endoscopy

Hi Kim, Hope your procedures go smoothly and painlessly. So sorry you need them. One of my husband's first silver linings after diagnosis was the thought that he'd never need another colonoscopy. The prep is hard, even on perfectly healthy people. Sending you lots of strong energy! XO Mana

    My Sister Has ALS

sorry if this is repetition, but has she talked about Bipap with her care team? My husband has had his Trilogy for about a month and it's the only thing that helps him finally get a good rest at night. He thinks it really helps breathing (although he's still mighty tired) Glad you can be...

    Effective antidepressant?

Another fan of Lexapro, but everyone’s unique. It definitely sounds worth switching if it really is the med causing problems. Can you talk to a professional?

    Promising Pathways Act

Thank you all. I'm relieved by your responses to the push for new "miracle drugs" My husbands mantra is "more good days" . We feel that there should be more emphasis on care than on cure and more care taken with drug approval.

    Excess mucus/phlegm

Did he get a suction machine along with his cough assist? My husband just started with trilogy and cough assist. The respiratory therapist who set them up for us also brought a suction machine. We haven't used it yet, but my understanding is that it would help with your problem. I'm sure...

    My Sister Has ALS

I'm also sorry to welcome you here, Casey. There is a lot of help (also a lot of wild information) out there, but in my experience this site, especially the moderators and distinguished members, has never steered me wrong. The ALS Foundation should be a good resource, both for information...

    ALS EXPERTS

We have personal experience and I strongly disagree with the idea that there is ANY pretense to Dr. Bedlack. He's warmly present and available to us and to everyone else I've spoken to who goes to Duke. He is dedicated to promoting research and to helping all current patients live the best...

    ALS EXPERTS

Dr. Bedlack is my husband’s doctor. We go toDuke ALS Clinic, which he runs. You can check out their web site, watch some of his videos on YouTube, and go to ALS Untangled to learn more about him. He is quite outstanding in the ALS community and totally lives up to the hype in person. He is as...
